To shape bonsai as desired, wire is applied. Given the time-consuming nature of this technique, the wire remains wrapped around the plant for several months. Thus, it's crucial to use bonsai-specific wire, like aluminum coated with copper, to avoid damaging the bark of branches and trunk. This wire combines the benefits of aluminum (flexibility, ease of handling, use) and overcomes the unattractive appearance of aluminum with a fine, dark, opaque copper coating. It doesn't rust or stain the bark. For effective wrapping, we recommend using wire that's 1/3 the thickness of the branch or trunk.
